Grand Rapids Comp...

Last Tuesday I find out that the Modern Park in Grand Rapids is going to have a contest on Sat night. I'd never been to the park before and I need to start giving more attention to that scene as it's part of Michigan too. So I decided I was going to go.
What I had forgotten was that Turbo (our super duper do it all guy) was leaving for vacation on Friday so I decided I shouldn't go and I'd send Dane Wild out there with the New Albe's Bus as it would be a good little test for it. It's about 120 miles each way and we have yet to have more than 3 people in the bus at a time so this test will work out perfect. Saturday rolled around and we weren't super busy at the shop so I decided to slip out early and meet up with Dane and the crew. The bus was occupied by Dane, Myself, Justin Simpson, Gappy, Biker-Ben, AJ, Manimal, Nathan Powell and a few others totaling 11 people and 11 bikes. Everybody fit with out a problem and the bus made it there flawlessly even without a spare tire. DON'T WORRY....WE WILL HAVE A SPARE TIRE FOR THE FLORIDA TRIP.
We got to the park two hours early and had to sit around and wait to ride. We figured with it being a night time comp that they weren't expecting it to be too big. We were surprised at all the people that showed up. I'm guessing there were 10 - 15 people in the AM class and probably 10 or so in the pro class as well as a whole bunch of spectators. The comp turned out to be VERY cool. It was run well by Shane (Modern's main man) as well as a few of his helpers.

I got to meet a bunch of really cool people from Michigan that i had never met before as well as see them tear the place up. Asian Bob, Jeremy Ball, Tyler Duchane and Pat Ellis just to name a few. The Contest ended at about 2 am with Marnimal (Mario) winning the am class and Jeremy Ball winning pro and best trick by 360ing the "A" ramp into the mini. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday night. Can't wait to head back that way when the weather gets good so we can get to know those guys better as well as check out what else they have to ride.

Dane got a flat the first 10 seconds of his run so he rode 3 other peopes bikes and still got 4th place. Click here to watch him crash on a borrowed bike.

It was the new Buses first trip full of bike riders and it did wonderfully. Plans for lots of Albe's trips this year are in the works.

P.S. I didn't know I was going to go to the comp until the last minute so I didn't have my regular camera. I shot a lot of photos with the point and click and these are the only ones that even kinda turned out. Sorry if i made you do a trick a bunch for a photo and didn't use it.
