Road Trip Update # 2 (Atlanta)
Seems like whenever it gets hot out Allen Smalls wears less and less clothes. We aren't even to Florida yet. I'm afraid of what he may (or may not) where there.
After driving all night Friday night we met up with Marcum and the Wooster crew just inside Ga. It was good to get everybody out of the bus and stretch, eat and cause trouble on our wheeled devices.
After we were all refreshed and ready to really ride I called up Talem to get final directions to his house and we were off. 20 mins later we arrived at the Talem Compound. Talem's place is really cool complete with a super fun back yard skate park, nice yard to lounge around in, pool, and a super nice house. Talem and his family must be some of the coolest people in the world to let 22 people they had never met before come and sleep, shower, eat, lounge around and bombard their computers. Talem is so nice that he slep in the their family's RV in the driveway so we had more room in the house. Who is really that cool?? If you ever have a chance to meet Talem your life will be better. Did i mention that the man can ride a bike really well too??
Below are some of the photos of everybody riding Talem's yard.
Because of Work Kris Marcum could only spend a day with us on the trip so did a weeks worth of riding and drinking in a 24hour period.
Jason Suchan is doing his best to be young again. So far he's kept up pretty good with the crew. Toothpick on the 6' vert 1/4 at Talem's
Talem is very COOL. Even though he's not into the drinking thing He even made calls to help us find a bar to go to. Watching him ride is ramps was very fun.
Shanton won the trick of the day award for icepicking the 14' vert wall. Shanton is a BAD ASS!
After riding for a few hours we needed to take a break. I can't believe i'm going to type this but it was TOO HOT. A CiCi pizza mission went down, some BooKoo was consumed and we rode some more. After it cooled down some we went to ride street in downtown Atlanta. We planned on splitting up into groups so we would get hasseled by the cops too much but it didn't matter at all. Cops would drive by and wave at us as we were doing tree rides or rails. People just seem to be nicer down south. At one point we rode this marble "donut" right in the middle of downtown on the main strip we people watching us everywhere. there were like 22 riders and sooo much cools stuff was done on it before we did get asked to leave 45min later.
below are some photos of downtown Atlanta street
Shanton tried to 180 this gap and failed. he destroyed his tire, tube, and his rim. It was was pretty funny to watch. It looked like he was tring to icepick the far ledge.
Vinnie Vasquez killed a few rails in downtown Atlanta for my camera. Watching Vinnie and Shanton ride street is a treat.
Steve Byrnes is able to tailwhip pretty much anything. this was out of a very small bank in the downtown Atlanta area.
Jamie Chalmers was going really fast across a street to do this tree ride infront of the police. The don't give a care.
Shanton did this rail probably 15 times because he want to manual of the end of it into the streeet. What you can't tell from the photos is that it's a double kinker AND curved.
After running on about 45 mins sleep in two days and riding for about 12 hours straight we decided it was time to head to a bar and get a little loose. So Talem found us a bar that was open till 3 am and the older part of the crew went out for the night. Squirrel, Flip, Shanton, Marcum, Joe fuller, Vinie and Kris K. ended up being kicked out of the bar for being a little too rowdy and Maybe because a bunch of stuff got broke...maybe that's why. Kris K took a bunch of the club photos but since he's too lazy to buy a digital camera they need to be developed.
After the club we headed back to Talem's and had to make a few stops on the side of the road for Vinnie again just like last year. Good thing there is a door in the back of the bus. Once we got back to Talem's house Vinnie tried to beat up Suchan in a drunken rant and passed out.
Right now we are going south on I-75 and heading to Florida. the plan was to stop at the Meritt Island Funpex park but we are now told they are closed on Mondays. We figure we'll be heading to the Miami area or Orlando area tonight but have not decided yet. check the comments below and when we know where we'll be Monday we'll post.
Here are a few more random photos from this update.
This car / motorcycle / coffin thing was at the Waffle House where we hooked up with Marcum and the crew.
Smalls loves to travel and fit in with the locals.
