Ohio Road Trip part 2...

Jamietundown_3

Jamie Chalmers first trip with us and he definitely earned his keep. Here he does his best Kris Bennett.

Well, Sunday night was fun.  we got to watch history in the making.

Joe Gall drank his FIRST ever legal beer.  Thats right...Joe is turned 21 at midnight on may 30th.  After everybody falling asleep at about 4am Monday morning we awoke at 10am or so.  The original plan was to get up and drive from the Marcum / Greenwald compound to Athens to ride their super nice park.  Plans had to be changed after we checked the weather and found that it was probably going to be raining most of the day in Athens.  It was in the opposite direction then home so we didn't want to take a chance of driving the rest of the way down there and having our day killed because of rain.  While we were deciding what to do we all went outside in the yard and rode Joey Greenwald's sign / ramp thingy.  The sign Joey made so we could find there house (seen in the last update) was also a ramp.

Marcumsignramp

This may be the most shady ramp I had ever been on yet we rode it for what seemed like hours. Here Marcum put's it to use before the earthquake.

Flip and Marcum KILLED the sign / ramp (like really...It's was killed....a pile of wood was all that was left) so we decided to get some CiCi's (all you can eat pizza for $5).  Once we were done eating we had the game plan figured out.  We were going to take our chance at riding some cement park in Akron and if the rain came we would just go to Chenga.

Once we made it to the Akron park we all formed GIANT smiles.  The place looked ridiculously fun.  The sun was still out so the session started.  Below are some of the photos from the Akron skate park. Click them if you want to see them bigger.

This is one of the locals named Bobby. What you can't tell was that this photo was shot while he was in the middle of a downside DOUBLE whip.  The locals were VERY good.

At about 3 or 4 it looks as it was going to start raining really hard so we had to decide if we wanted to go ride Chenga or just start heading home.  Before we figured out what to do Suchan came up with the idea to head home and stop at a fellows house on the way to ride some trails.  A few calls were made and we were on the road heading to Monroe Mi.
The fellows house we were heading to is named Rhesse Mayer.  Some of you may remember that a month or so ago Rhesse had won the AM class at the Albe's Comp at the Modern Skate Park.  We were treated like heroes when we arrived at the Mayer ranch.  They live in a super nice house with lots of land and a cool dog named York.  Mr. and Mrs. Mayer were SUPER nice and even had Little Ceasers Pizza waiting for us when we got there.  We all grabbed a pie and headed to the back yard to check the jumps.  Rhesse had worked hard on his jumps and it showed.  They weren't super big but plenty big enough to have us some fun without getting us killed. The Crew and Rhesse rode the jumps for the next hour or so as the sun set.  It was a super cool session that was fun and laid back but stuff was stilling getting done.  Huge turndowns and inverts from Jamie, barspins from the non trail rider Dane, Carmickle was doing 360's back to back in the rhythm..the first one regular and the second opposite. Somebody forgot to tell sparks he doesn't ride dirt because he was doing all his park stunts with no problem. Sparks fired out, 360's, tailwhips and even a backflip over the shady hip.  Rhesse was tying all the lines together with big transfers and nofooted cancans as well as a good 360 or two.  Even the old guys Flip and Suchan made there way through the trails with 360's in the rhythm.  After it started to get dark we talked Rhesse's brother (Troy??) into jumping over the Albe's bus.  He kinda cheated though.  He had a motor!  After jumping the bus 5 or six times on his dirtbike we got the shots we wanted and we ready to head home.  We said our good-byes to the Mayer Family and headed home. THANKS A TON TO THE MAYER FAMILY for letting us ride, buying us pizza & and for being so nice. Below are photos from Rhesse's house.  Click them to see them larger.

Rhessefuf
Not only did Rhesse have trails he had a ramp too. This was the first fufanu he had ever done on his sub wall.

Motorcycle
Man that bus gets around. Rhesse's brother jumped it probably 10 times but since it was getting dark this was the best shot we could get.
.
We made the hour drive back to Albe's and unloaded the bus.  Yet another successful roadtrip under the belt of the Albe's bus that we bought almost as a joke!  Can't wait until we do another weekend trip.  Canada???  Chicago???  who knows?  For more photos and storys about our 32 hour trip check www.bmx.cc and www.teamyoungbmx.com.  If they have not updated yet i'm sure they will soon.
