Toronto. The country that confuses me. Why you ask... because
everywhere I go Punjab and Alladinn are telling me I have to pay $20 for 1
night of parking when he only charged me $20 for the 2 nights before. Anywho
the Metro Jam happend there and there were no riders of weird decent present.
There were however a lot of amatuers there, who somehow got to ride in the
Expert class. Most of the amatuers were exactly that, I was disappointed in
the ams this year. Its hard to regulate that kind of stuff when you just
have to call in to register. Maybe a qualifier would help with this problem
(no offense Jay, just trying to help out). There where some real experts
though including a pretty good group from Michigan. First we have Dane Wild,
he rode really well and placed 2nd with tricks such as a sprocket to fakie
on a crazy obstacle that i don't feel like explaining. Then you have
Squirrel who placed 7th with good moves such as footjaming the Orchid
wallride, and so good of moves like trying to 180 the Jersey barrier. Next
is Davey Cooperwasser who rode good and placed 12th with and amazing 360
tiretap over the mushroom obstacle. And last but not least is Ryan Garvock
who made the finals and placed somewhere that I don't know of because of his
33 year old checkered slip on shoes and his boxerless ass crack hanging out.
He also did fakies. Now on to PRO. There were 80 PROS in attendance not
including Mike Aitken or Matt Berringer to my dissapointment. But Gary Young
and Ryan Mirra.. I mean Nyquist were there. They both rode alright in
qualifying, and so did the rest of the PROS. Qualifying didn't have anything
to amazing exept for Michigans Josh Steir riding good and being the first
person to ice-pick the crazy obstacle that I spoke of earlier, and if it not
for a flat tire he would have pulled an ice-pick to fakie on that same
obstacle. But alas, Josh did not make finals and was ripped of once again as
he paled aroungd 50th, being beaten by big name riders who pulled nothing in
there runs. Finals, much better than anything else. Everyone went off. John
Heaton trying and getting close to flip to fufanu on the small sub box.
Chris Doyle riding the hip really well and doing 7 ft. high turdown to
fakies. Nyquist rules the course with flairs in the ceiling and everyother
jumping variation possible. All you really need to know is that first place
was taken by Gary Young. He is good. Huge wallride to whip, icepick to over
on the mushroom, 270 whip the hip, and jumping from the spine onto the top
of the mushroom and tailwhipping off into the wedge caused him to win.
Finals were definately the best part off the contest. Im not sure of all the
final standings but Im sure there gonna be up soon on metrojambmx.com so
check it out. And if you want to here the stories about the best part of the
weekend, which was the Michigan boys partying it up at the Velvet Undergound
and Chicago's bar, email Flipper and tell him to have Matt Morren write a
story about it for Albes website. Speeking of Matt Morren he didn't ride the
contest because he missed amatuer registration by like 2 spots and hes not a
PRO, but if you want to know where he would have placed, just print out the
amatuer standings and add his name to the bottom of the list. It's also his
birthday on March 13th, so buy him a present and tell him he did a good job
writing this story. Cheers mate...eh?
