Davey H.K. Cooperwasser..

My buddy and Team Young Teammate Davey H.K. Cooperwasser has been sending me stories and photos of his trip to the other side of the big pond. I finally graduated college and had some credits to finish. It was either a boring semester in East Lansing or any where in the World pretty much. I made my choice for Dublin. The way my program works is that I work at this digital post production house to intern (learning all you can, and hoping people are cool to help you out). Lucky for me everyone where I work are all super cool, and on top of that they are interested that I ride bikes. Cycling is real big over here, allot of couriers on fancy or vintage bikes, and then like 6 BMXer’s in the entire city. So people think it’s really unique and want to know more about it. Anyone from the States knows that not everyone over there is as friendly towards what we’re into.

Besides work I get to ride pretty much anytime it’s nice. Which is more than you would think, it don’t rain all the time... well it rained today but whatever. I got to meet the riders here which is awesome ‘cause they’re all real chill and have a different outlook on riding. That saying has been beaten to death but it truly does make it interesting everyday when you go out with them because they look at things in a whole other way. The style here is usually pretty minimal: no brakes, pegs sometimes, use parts until they are completely un-rideable, and enjoy what you have.

The guys here are badass to boot. The other day my friend Pete Conway was shooting photo’s the entire time and really didn’t ride the whole day. So Pete decided to jump on his bike and 1st try bunnyhop tail whipped off a four stair to flat. I don’t know I thought it was pretty wild in my book. But that’s how these guys are here, badass and make the best of what you got. That’s one thing that I think relates to Michigan among others when I compare the scenes. We don’t have the end all best stuff to ride but you make what you got work for you and don’t worry about anything else.

The pictures are taken on a day when allot of us went down to Kilcoole where our friend Derek lives and happens to have a mini ramp in a neighbors yard. Definitely the nicest ramp in the entire country, 6 foot with smooth transitions and a banked wall to roll strait through the coping on one side. After riding we went to the beach by his house to do nothing else except sit on a beach. I met this dog and he was cool, I named him Irish Dog because I’m so unoriginal.

I have later stops in my trip for: The U.K., Amsterdam, Italy, and possible stops in Barcelona and Cologne. I’ll also keep exploring the great island here. That’s pretty much it. Riding bikes, video work, going to the pubs, and taking it all in.
