Awesome frickin' park...
So last Sunday Afro Pat invited us down to Cleveland Oh. to come ride his trails as he was having a trail jam. The shit ass rainy weather shot that idea to hell but it all worked out in the end because we got to ride what was probably the best skate park in the world since Chenga 1.
We were all looking forward to spending the day at the trails but after being at Ray's for less then 5 mins we forgot all about the trails. The place is HUGE. It's probably the size of 4 of the Modern Park in Novi Mi. It has a big bowl area, foam pit, resi box, a big box jump, a small race style track, a medium size box jump rhythm section with the funnest berms in the world, a bigger size box jump rhythm section that is pretty much indoor trails and so many kooky mountain bike obstacles that will keep any BMX'er busy for hours. After being there for 2 hours we were still finding new fun shit. Below are a few photos from the 15 hour trip. There is no way you will ever be able to tell how fun the place is unless you go there. Problem is you won't be able to go until November as the park is closed for the summer. That meant we had the place all to ourselves. It was good to be us on Sunday. Thanks Ray. For more info check out Ray's web site at www.raysmtb.com . Sunday was the most fun i've had riding my bike in months. OH yeah...did i mention that this place will have a Brewery attached to it soon??
This is what they call the Subaru BMX park. I guess Subaru helped pay to have it built. It's big and has wall rides, spines, subs, wedges, a curved wall ride and a bunch of 1/4 pipes. in the photo you can see how big this part of the park is. this is probably only an 1/8 of the size of the whole park.
Loaf is almost to the top of the 8' wall. Without photoshop you would be able to see how WHITE this kid really is.
Next time we are there i'm guessing craig will icepick this wall. He will if i trick him into it anyway.
Wedge to wall to whip in one try. If Craig Heneke is ever able to legally leave Michigan he may come kill a park near you.
This 9' tall vert berm is in the middle of the smaller rhythm. sooooo much fun.
This is the last few boxes in the bigger rhythm. There are 7 jumps in total in this run. One being a big step up hip that is damn fun. Check out the half moon looking jump thing there at the end.
Rusty Keys may weigh 130 lbs but he can probably beat the shit out of you in c-low. i think he made about $150 in one day off everybody in the Albe's bus.
This was Brandon Dosch's first trip in the Albe's bus and i think he had a good time. He was by far the biggest stand out of the day. He owned every part of the park.
this kinda gives you a small idea on how big the park is. Yes. to the left you can see a trail / roll in coming out of the rafters.
The mountain bike stuff at the park is quite fun. It will give you an idea of how much bike control you really have. It kept us occupied for hours.
this thing was hiding in one of the corners of the park. it is really steep and i would have never thought of riding it even. Pat was tail tapping it and coming STRAIGHT in clean some how.
I think i saw Brandon roll the whole track thing on his rear wheel. this thing is fun.
Ohio's New Philly Billy was also there riding fast as hell and doing 360 lookbacks over the big box.
Below is a few photos shot while we were traveling on Sunday
Detroit is the city of the Future
Somehow I have become a pro at taking punching photos. Look at Loaf's nose.
on the way home we stopped by Sparks's apartmet as he was having a party to welcome home Ron Thomas, Vinnie and Stewy from a month long DK tour. Wecome home boys.
We are looking into doing a IL. / IA. trip in the next few weeks so be ready.
