Albe's Road Trip Wrap up..
Well, the trip has come to an end and the 20 hour drive home was pretty uneventful as most of us slept 90% of the way. We made it back to Albe's at about 5:30 pm on Sunday. As we unpacked the bus and trailer we all said our good bye's.
It's pretty cool how a bunch of people that really didn't know eachother piled into that bus for 10 days and all came out the best of friends. Most of the people on the trip had met eachother before but had never really hung out together other than at the skate park. The variety of people on the bus was incredible yet knowing that they all had their bikes and Albe's in common I thought everybody would get along ok....boy was I wrong....everybody got along better than ok. I never would have expected crazy ass Rusty Keys to end up being buddy buddy with Sparks nor did I expect Kenny Sanders (who had never really met any of us) to take a liking to Bayliss. In the end we were like a little family. We drove together, ate together, rode together, ran from the police together, and partied (Team Younged) together. I can't wait to set up the next road trip. I've had so many people ask to go I think we may have to sell the bus to buy a bigger one. The riding on this trip was way past what i thought it would be and so was the fun.
Below are some random thoughts about the trip from some of the people involved. Read through them and at the bottom is a link to a photo gallery from the trip. We took over 700 photos and it would be impossible to post them all so i randomly chose 30 of them. The are of riding, driving, chilling, and just plain having fun. Thanks to everybody who helped make it happen.
Albe's, Team Young, Event Horizon, the Joe kid that installed the trailer hitch, the fellow that sold us the bus, the Chattown skate park, Walmart for the bus tire, Ron Thomas and Angie, Shady people (guys and girls), Ric, James, Nat, Nate and Nips from Daytona, Brian Fell, David Healy and Jimmy Hale from Bully, Matt Copelan, Forrest Roberts, Steve Nowack, Sparks Energy drink, SPOT Skate Park, 688 Skate Park, the Idahoes, Chad Degroot and Cici's Pizza and my wonderfull wife Pam. Sorry if I forgot anybody.
If you would like to see some more photos from the trip check out the photo gallery by clicking here. The most important thing I learned from looking at the 700+ photos we took is I NEED A HAIRCUT!

We came, We rode, and we as a team f--ked sh-t up! and that in my eyes is the only way it should be! There was a few rocky points in the trip, but we somehow came out alive and in some what good health, maybe not sober but what can you do?
I hung out with a lot of people that I see at the local parks. Sparks, Vinnie, baylis, marcum, we all seamed to bond and now can say that they are my bros for life.
I did a lot of thinking on this trip and realized that riding bikes is only temporary but memories are forever and the 10 days I spent with the kids on the trip will never be forgoten!

The whole road trip just flat out ruled, not only was i clear across the country from were i live but i met pretty much every one on the trip for the first time. every one got along very well. The only thing that i thought sucked about the trip was not sleeping but when i think about it, if i would have slept then half of my memories would have been gone. The riders were awesome, every single one of them had a one in a million personality and are very good on two wheels. If i had the chance to go again i would go in a heart beat.

During our spring break in Clearwater we met some more "randoms" in Y-Bor City at some club we were VIP to. It was around 3 AM and closing time for all the bars on the strip. Everyone one was outside on the street, it was crazy. As we were trying to find eachother it turned out 2 of us were talking to the same group of guys, Team Young. Penny and I (Mickie) were planning to continue on with them to the house they were staying at and so we did (forgetting to let the other 2 know). When we entered their van/bus we felt like groupies...it was like a party the whole way there. Music, dancing, pictures, and I'm guessing about 20 people just in 1 vehicle. When we woke up in the morning the guys were sleeping everywhere, the living room, the kitchen, hallway, I'm pretty sure 1 was even on the pool table. Most of them showered and some left to go ride at a skate park. The guys were staying with some guy they met while they were in Florida. They cleaned up his house before leaving and the guy was real cool about the whole thing, even the hole in the door! So finally we were on our way back to the hotel at 2 PM...we stopped at Burger King so everyone could get some grubb and saw a van with 4 mattresses on top. We all wanted to get a pic on top of it but the van drove away. On our way to the hotel we entertained ourselves by snapping rubberbands on eachother, throwing blue balls, and some of the guys were enjoying waxing their leg, arm, and face hair...O yea the porn star kept talking about porn too. It was actually a lot of fun. We finally got to our hotel at 4 PM, changed into our bikinis, grabbed the other 2 girls (Lindsay and Afton), and headed to the beach to meet the "Minneso-da" guys. Since they called us the "Idahoes" and we're from Iowa we had to call them something. Anyway, they were too cold at the beach (boohoo)and wanted to ride so the 4 of us girls tagged along. When we got there the bikes were unloaded one after the other and we finally went inside. It was awesome all of the tricks we saw them do. We thought we were with some "average joe" BMX bikers, but they actually have talent. Going to the skate park was more fun than the beach wouldve been. They did jumps and tricks over us and the best one was when Sparks landed the amazing 360 double tailwhip over Afton striking a pose. It was go time because there was a demo so he landed it just in time. After 8 of us showered we went to Shepards (a club) and back to the guys hotel room. About an hour later the rest of the BMX bikers came back from the skate park and 20 minutes after that security kicked everyone out. It sucked they couldnt stay another night and it sucked that Jace couldnt come back into the night club!! All in all it was awesome thanx for a great time and the sweatshirts....by the way since I'm (Mickie) the only honest one will you please send me one?? You guys are awesome. THE IDAHOES LOVE MINNESO-DA GUYS!!

17 and on a trip away from reality really shakes your head when you
come back. You dont realize how much you didn't have to do when you
were gone till you come back and have stacks of things you need to sort
out. The whole idea of a bmx trip that is protraited to little kids is,
wake up and ride ride ride, as much as i thought myself, and found out,
riding seemed to be the last thing on everyones mind while we were
there. Riding was done yes, but mostly the fun was had off the tubular
bars and out into the drink flooded bars. Being stuck in a tiny bus
such as "Gary Busse" and not having any idea where the hell you would
sleep the next night seemed quite stressful to some, but for some odd
reason, it wasn't stressful once so ever. No one freaked out, no one
got pissed, a little grumpiness here and there, but what do you expect?
When we were on our bikes it was just ride at your own pace, do your
tricks, etc. But the vibe off some kids was, "you're a pro on Albes, do
your stunts first go or you suck." Which was kind of a bummer. Other
kids took it upon themselves to show us that the park was theirs,
which, if you dont do it so obviously its alright, but somekids were
making sure we saw it, and im sorry, thats not friendly at all. Its
cool for a kid to show you what they can do, just non-notiable. I sit
here at my computer desk just laughing and giggling about the stupid
stuff that happened, and the unforgettable stuff that was said. I am
glad the 15 or 16 people who were on this trip were here, a good flow
of people from ordinary life, brought together by a little 30 pound
bicycle. So again, reality is a big bummer after coming off such a trip
that i will never forget for as long as i can remember. Thank you so
much for everything, everyone who was on it, thanks for being so nice
and cool thanks to albes and everyone who showed up and had a good time, and i hope i can go again next time.

It was hard to believe that the trip this year would be able to beat last years trip, but with twice as many riders there was twice as much fun. Everyone got to hang out with people they normaly don't see often and we got along with the one exception. That however made us tighter as a group with all the inside jokes. Uncle Flappy seemed to let loose a little more on this trip too which is always a plus and everyone sessioned and killed Florida.....which state wants it next?

It started as 15 people(some i know, some i didnt) all piling into a bus. 10 days later is was 15 good friends piling out of a bus. The snapshots in my mind, and on my pc(for the times my mind was off) will forever remind me of the great times we had. We Rode good parks, found good street, met awesome locals, went to good clubs, and bombarded WAY too many gas stations. We helped Sparks Energy Drink stay in buissness though. The trip was a great success and i love everyone on that bus. I hope to see all of them soon. I cannot wait until next year.
