SOME NEWS TO REPORT AS OF 10/17/03
Be Patient while the photos load
Once again, in normal Albe's fashion below is a giant run on paragraph with a bunch of
news and photos. click on the photos if you want to see them full size.
Well another m onth has gone by and we are chugging right along here at the
almightyAlbe's.Business is so good we decided to come
out with special editionAlbe's Plungers. Clickherefor
the details. The Focus Skate Parkat 16 mile and Mound (3 miles for
Albe's) is up and running again. Focus was closed for a few weeks while
they brought the place up to code. Once again they are up and running and
are once again under new new management.Dirty Garywas replaced by
a good fellow namedJosh. Josh is a rollerblader but don't hold
that against him as he seems to cater more to the bike riders anyways.
Many of the ramps have been rebuilt and the park is quite a bit different than
it was even 2 months ago. The
have even built ahuge 3/4 pipe....yes...a 3/4 pipe. It's pretty
much a full pipe but without the top 1/4 that nobody should be using anyways.
be sure to go check them out atwww.focussk8.com.
In other local skate park news theRiverbends Park(just off of Ryan Rd.
1/2 mile north of Auburn) may be in some trouble. It seems that there has
been a lot of people going there and not following the rules. Many people
have been riding on skate days or vise versa or not wearing helmets. What
these"e;rule breakers"e;do not know is that t the parks insurance company
makes surprise visits all the time and if people aren't following the rules it
goes down as a strike on the park's record. Seems as if the park has a lot
of strikes now soPLEASE follow the rulesthere as we all like to ride
the park and would hate to see it go. Rumor has it if the park can get
through these tough times they will probablyexpand and maybe will even have
trails built...WORD!!! Also be nice to the Riverbends"e;Park Nazi"e;he is a cool guy just tiring to keep the park running. AlsoTransitions Ramp Park(TRP) is still up and running so go there and ride. This
is TRP's web address (www.trpramppark.com)
In rider news we have a little bit to tell ya about. Albe's local RipperTeddy VanOrmanhas been blowing up. he's been in a few mags the
past few months and even has a bio in the current issue of Ride BMX mag that was
written by Teddy's good friendDK's Nathan Fonz.Nathan also has
been killing it and was even invited to the X-Games to ride in theDownhill
BMXevent. From what we are told Nathan turned more than a few heads
and did VERY well up
until the end when he ended up in8th place.
Congrats Nathan...Michigan Represent!! Another Michigan Ripper on
his way to the top isCraig Heneke. Craig recently was invited to
compete in theamateur Gravity Gamesand with little or no practice on the
Gravity Game's course (due to bike problems) still ended up in6th..Congrats
to you too Craig. Albe'sMatt Daltonis now one of the head mothers
in charge and a very cool restaurant callPF Changsin Northville Mi.
Mat had been working at a PF Changs in Troy for many years before the promotion.
This means he'll have more money to spend onBMW's....the downfall is he won't get
to ride as much. Knowing Matt though even if he only ride once a month
he'll still rip.Flip @ Albe'sis getting yet ANOTHER new bike.
Turns out thatKinkdid a small run of whiteFreebirdframes and
Flip decided he had to have one to match his whiteTrans Am (the Trasham).Expect to see Flip on the ONLY white 20"e; top tube Freebird in existence soon.
Albe'sMat Sparkshas been off his bike for the past few weeks.
seems he crashed doings something that most people woudn't try and ended up
with a tumor or something in his leg. Last we heard he was going to get anultrasounddone on it....does that mean he might bepregnant??Albe'sJosh
Steiris in someway hooked up with theLast Call(FBM) crew and may be off on some
road trips and stopping by a park near you...hide your women!! Another
Michigan rider and Albe's customerMike O'Bryanhas recently started to work forDig Magazine. Are you jealous?? You should be. Albe's
Team RiderKris Marcumhas informed us that hewill be quitting
schoolat Kent state to have more time to ride and make videos.but will be
doing "e;Online Schooling"e;...quittersnever win.Albe's Recuitand
BMX message board wizardJared "e;the Aardvark"e;Bludsworth is healed up from his
crash awhile back and riding again.Kenny Sandersrecently was paid$25by a young lady toshave odd parts of his body. Kenny had this to
say about the ordeal.."e;it itches like hell. never do it unless money is
involved"e; We were recently
sent a photo of a famousDetroit Rock starsporting anAlbe's t-not sure if it's
real or not but who cares...it's still kinda funny. Bonus fact...did you know
thatTodd From Albe'sand his pals oncebeat up Kid Rockand his posse in a bar
fight???WHAT'S MY NAME??True story! In other Todd from Albe's
News, our boyToddwent toVegasfor the Interbike trade show.
He came
back with a bunch of coolstories and photos. Wanna read about
Todd's adventures in Vegas???click here. That's about
all the news we have for now. Be sure to check out the "e;Bike Checks"e; below.
