When this business was first opened in 1968, long before almost everyone that will read this was born, the original owners had no idea how far it would have come. From a simple little bicycle shop in Detroit to an internationally know BMX superstore. Over the years some owners have changed, Some employees have come and gone, but our focus has stayed pretty much the same: do things the way we want to do them, treat customers more like "friends" than "sales", and we make sure we're not so focused on how big we want to be in the future that we lose sight of what it takes to get there on a day by day schedule. Competitors have come and gone, some have come from seemingly nowhere and gotten bigger faster but we subscribe to the old "tortoise & hare" theory: slow and steady will prevail in the end...and so far it seems to be working just fine. we are Albe's: bigger than some, smaller than others...and happy to remain this way.

Todd Fromalbe's is the veteran behind the direction, and existance of Albe's. His history, knowledge and connections in the BMX industry,has helped Albe's become the oldest and one of the most repitable BMX mailorder companies in the world. Todd and his friendships with the manufacturing and distribution companies and their owners, has allowed Albe's to offer some of the best products and deals available. Todd is mainly in charge of the behind the scene action at Albe's. His duties include making sure everyone and everything is working the best it can, playing around on his internet, getting wined and dined by other big wigs and sharing one of his stories about anything and everything. Todd without a doubt logs the most hours per year at the shop and clearly sacrificies his personal time to keep things on track. Many have been known to think that Todd was either a robot or just a myth, but neither are true. If your looking to learn about BMX history, the industry, or meet a person that has helped make Albe's the best that it is, Todd is the person to talk to.

Mark Filipowicz known to most as Flip, is one of the key elements that helps keep Albe's on the fast track to success. Flip's main role at Albe's, (besides being the guy that goes on vacation every other week), is a balancing act of multiple jobs, thoughts, ADHD ideas, and a million instant messages a day. Flip is the website, ad, promotion, sales, team manager, mr. e-mail, all around go to guy, and also still finds time to ride his bike with the best of them. He's on a constant race against time to keep our customers happy with product information, answers to questions, and our online store in tip-top shape for your viewing pleasure. If you've ever looked at any of our ads, website, or went to event or road trip that we have hosted, you've seen his work. Albe's and it's morals of being the best at everything we do, defiantly revolves around Flip's ambition and dedication. So next time you send an e-mail, ride with the team, or check out a new product online, realize that it wasn't just some guy that took care of you, it was an owner, an employee, a fellow rider that commits his time and effort to help make Albe's the best in the business.

A few years before John signed on the line to become one of the owners of this joint we had some footage of him in one of our videos.  They were a bunch of clips ran together and they showed him trying a rail, repeatedly, a bunch of times and eating it about half a dozen times before he finally pulled it.  We knew who he was but didn’t really know his personality too well but we formed a bit of an opinion of him and listed him in the video as John “Determined” Smith.   Looking back we now realize just how on point that snide little remark was, wether it be his determination to pull that ten step rail, work whatever hours necessary to get things done around here or to opening his own bowling alley.  It’s ethic like that which makes him a perfect fit here and leaves no doubt that someday he’ll live his dream of retiring from here to run his own sod farm.  May his grass always be green and the grubs be few and far between.

Curtis - AKA - Turbo is the man behind the mechanics and custom assembly of products here at Albe's. Turbo is known for his lighting slow reflexes, and his way with words. The ladies love him. He heads the wheel department here at Albe's thanks to his skill and accuracy. Turbo is an important fixture in the Albe's family and dedicates everything he has to offering a quality product to our customers. Turbo's mechanical skills and abilities out weigh the chance of a poor product ever leaving Albe's. Turbo along with the rest of us, is truly dedicated as an employee and rider to this industry and strives to bring the best to our customers.
